Fall Festivals in and around Spring Texas 2010

After making it through another summer of sweltering heat and humidity, its time for you to get out an enjoy the cooler temperatures and attend one if not all of the numerous fall festivals in the Spring Texas area.

October

Fall Fine Arts Festival on October 2nd from 10 – 7 pm at Market Street in the Woodlands. Live music, art demonstrations and artists creations in numerous mediums including painting, photography, and metal sculptures are available for purchase.

Cajun Catfish Festival on October 8 – 10th in Conroe TX. Three days of music on five stages, food, and fun. Attendance usually reaches 30,000 to 40,000 people. The festival is about more than just catfish though as you will find frog legs, alligator, boudin, shrimp, gumbo, sausage, and red beans and rice.

5th annual Pet Fest in Old Town Spring 0n October 23rd 10 – 5 pm and October 24th 11 – 5 pm.  Dedicated to finding homes for the numerous animals in shelters. Costumes contests, raffles, demonstrations and live music.  Texas dock dogs will be making an appearance at this year’s festival.

Woodlands Wildflower Festival on October 23rd 10 – 2 pmat Rob Fleming Park in the Village of Creekside. Free wildflower seeds will be distributed by local businesses. There will be landscape and environmental exhibits, native plants for sale, free petting zoo and pony rides, food and more.

November

 Vintage Harvest Festival on November 6 from 10 – 6 pm at Vintage Park located at HWY 249 and Louetta. Festival celebrating food, wine, and art. HEB Vintage Market  will be giving cooking demonstrations and Brix Wine Cellars will be providing wine and beer tastings.

Home for the Holidays in Old Town Spring on weekends beginning November 6th. Christmas comes early in Old Town Spring with the 30th annual Home for the Holidays celebration. Enjoy the strolling musicians, music on the Museum Stage, photos with Santa, horse and carriage rides, and the Christmas train. Lighting ceremony will be held at sundown on November 6th.

Childrens Festival in the Woodlands on November 13 from 10 – 5 pm and November 14 from noon – 5 pm at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. The Pavilion is transformed into a giant playground with music, dance, comedy, arts & crafts, and games. Mad Science’s CSI: Live! is the featured performance.

4th annual Chocolate Festival on November 13 from 11 – 7 pm at the Sam Houston Race Park. Enjoy cooking demonstrations, indulge in chocolates, and sample wines. What a fabulous way to spend a day!

International Winter on the Waterway on November 20 from 3 – 9 pm at the Woodlands Waterway and Town Green Park. Festival is in conjunction with 28th Annual Lighting of the Doves provides an opportunity to learn about the holiday traditions from countries all over the world including food, arts & crafts, and music.

Lighting of the Doves Festival on November 20 from 3 – 9 pm at Town Green Park in the Woodlands. Featuring the arrival of Santa Claus, live music, ice carvers, snow, fireworks and other activities.

December

Lighted Carriage Parade on December 5th at 6 pm on Market Street in the Woodlands. the parade is a holiday tradition with decorated and lighted horse-drawn carriages and Santa will there too.

German Christmas Market on December 11 from 10 – 9 pm and December 12 from 10 – 6 pmin Tomball Texas near the Train Depot Plaza. Over 120 vendors will be selling German Christmas items, and arts and crafts. Kid area with carnival rides, petting zoo, pony ride. Plus there are hayrides and a Christmas lights tour.
