October 7, 2011After sweating through the hottest summer on record in Spring Texas, it’s time to have some fun outdoors and enjoy Fall’s cooler weather. Below is a run down of the numerous Fall Festivals in the Spring Texas area being held this year (2011):
Bugs, Brew & Barbecue on October 1st in Tomball. More than 100 VW bugs will be in town for a show and swap meet starting at 9 am. Live music and food kicks off at noon. Local Texas craft beers from St. Arnold, Rahr & Sons, and Zeigenbach will be available.
Cajun Catfish Festival on Oct. 14th, 15th, and 16th at downtown Conroe. Three days of music on 4 stages, rides, petting zoo and food … everything from catfish, shrimp, gumbo, frog legs, alligator, and that must have boudin. Cost: $12 for everyone 13 or older. Hours: Friday – 6 to midnight, Saturday – 11 am to midnight, and Sunday – noon to 6.
Oktoberfest on Oct. 14th, 15th, and 16th at the Woodlands’ Town Green Park. Get ready to OPA! The opening keg-tapping ceremony starts at 6 pm on Friday. Hours for Saturday and Sunday are noon to 9 pm. If you are 10 or older, it will cost you $10 to get into the event. Beer, Wine, Food, and Music make this a festival not to be missed.
Pumpkin Jubilee on October 15th at Vintage Park (Louetta and 249). Activities begin at 11 am with arts and crafts, bounce house, face painting, hayrides, and outdoor showing of Hocus Pocus at 7 pm.
Autumn Art & Wine Festival on October 15th and 16th at Old Town Spring. Did you know October is Texas Wine Month? I didn’t. Enjoy tasting Texas wine and viewing original art work from Texas artists. The event is Free that is unless you want to taste the wine. Wine tasting will set you back $25 for 5 tastings with additional tastings cost you a $1. You can save yourself $5 by purchasing tickets online in advance. Hours for Saturday are 10 am to 6 and Sunday from 11 am to 5.
Pet Fest on Oct. 22nd and 23rd at Old Town Spring. Now here’s a festival you can bring your pet to. Hours for Saturday are 10 am to 5 and Sunday from 11 am to 5. Last year PetFest raised $12,450 for local animal shelters and rescue groups. There will be costume contests, raffles, demonstrations, music and the Texas dock dogs.
ZiegenBock Music Festival on Oct. 29th at the Sam Houston Race Park. Get ready to enjoy 18 bands at this year’s 9th annual ZiegenBock Music Festival. General admission tickets are available for only $16. The music starts at 11 am with the Eli Young Band, Bob Schneider, the Zach Edwards Band, Wade Bowen, Kristen Kelly, and the Folk Family Revival and many more bands scheduled to play.
