April is almost here and Spring Texas and the surrounding areas of Tomball and the Woodlands are gearing up for a jam packed spring festival line up. From art shows to music festivals to juicy mudbugs to cold beer there is a festival for everyone.
Here’s our favorite (must attend) list of spring time festivals in and around Spring Texas – 2016:
Tomball German Heritage Festival in Old Town Tomball near the train depot plaza. Music / street festival celebrating the heritage of the original German families that settled in the area in the 1840s. 4 stages of live music, ethnic food, beer and wine, dancing, carnival rides, and German souvenirs. It’s like Oktoberfest but in March!
When is it: April 1 – 3 Hours: April 1st – 6 pm to 10 pm. April 2nd – 10 am to 10 pm. April 3rd – 10 am to 6 pm. Cost: $0
Woodlands Waterway Art Festival in the Woodlands along the Waterway and Town Green Park. This is the art festival not to be missed! Ranked in the top 10 of America’s Best Art Fairs. Over 225 artists from around the nation display their unique creations which are also available for purchase. Three stages of music, craft beer area, and food demos.
When is it: April 8-10 Hours: April 8 – 11 am to 6 pm. April 9 – 10 am to 6 pm April 10 – 10 am to 5 pm Cost: $15 for a 3 day pass
Throwdown Texas Burger & Beer Fest at Town Green Park in the Woodlands. Fieldings Wood Grill, Grub Burger Bar, Kirby’s and 8 other restaurants will be grilling their best burger in an attempt to win over 5 celebrity judges and earn the title of “Best Burger in Town”. Craft beer and live music by local and regional bands including Jason Cassidy, Josh Ward, and the Will Carter Band round out the festivities. This is the inaugural year for the Burger & Beer Fest.
When is it: April 23rd Hours: 11 am to 10 pm Cost: $20 general admission (entry into the fest, concert admission, and (1) 16 oz. beer)
Texas Crawfish and Music Festival in Old Town Spring. If you can only make it to one crawfish festival, this is the one to attend. Celebrating its 30th anniversary and spanning two weekends, this is the biggest crawfish (over 50,000 lbs) and music festival in the area. This year’s music acts include Reckless Kelly, Asleep at the Wheel, Thunder Soul, Kevin Black, Space Bear, Angel Y Kriz, plus others.
When is it: April 29-30, May 1, May 6-8 Hours: April 29 & May 6 – 6 pm to 11 pm. April 30 & May 6 – noon to 11 pm. May 1 & May 8 – noon to 6 pm. Cost: $5 – $50 for admission. Parking – $10.
Spring Concert Series at Market Street in the Woodlands. The perfect way to spend a spring evening. Bring a picnic and lawn chairs or enjoy dinner at one of the surrounding restaurants while listening to a variety of live music. Arrive early to snatch patio seating at one of surrounding restaurants. The patio seating fills up super fast.
When is it: Every Thursday night from April 21 – May 26th. Hours: 6-8 pm Cost: $0
Spring Fine Arts Festival at Market Street in the Woodlands. Local artists displaying their original creations in mediums of paint, photography, sculptures, and metal works. Your next conversation piece is waiting for you to discover it.
When is it: April 30th Hours: 10 am – 7 pm Cost: $0
Rails & Tails Mudbug Festival at Tomball’s historic downtown depot. Two days of celebrating the juicy crawfish a.k.a. mud bugs with eating contests, crawfish racing, and some live music. Hitting the stage on April 30th are Pelican 212, Walter Shur & Mango Punch, Bayou Roux, and the John Evans Band. Hitting the stage on May 1st are Pelican 212, Guppies from Outer Space, The Chubby Knuckle Choir, and The Fab 5, Mango Punch, and the Posse Band.
When is it: April 30 and May 1st Hours: 11 am – 6 pm Cost: $0
Memorial Day Weekend Chili Challenge at Tomball’s historic downtown depot. Who’s Chili reigns supreme? Local businesses and organizations battle it out for the title of “Best Chili in Tomball”. Southern rockers “The Posse Band” will be performing live throughout the afternoon.
When is it: May 28 Hours: 10 am – 6 pm Cost: $0
Memorial Day Weekend Festival at Town Green Park in the Woodlands. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and stake your spot on the lawn for the evening. Bring your own food or purchase it from the vendors on site. Live music starts at 6 pm. The evening’s festivities conclude with a fireworks display choreographed to patriotic music to honor our veterans.
