It’s time to trade in your lime green kitchen appliances for new energy efficient appliances and snag a rebate courtesy of our federal government at the same time.
As part of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act , the state of Texas will use approximately $23 million in federal funds for a rebate program to consumers who purchase certain energy efficient appliances. The rebates vary based upon the appliance and range from $110 for a dishwasher to $1,400 for a 14 SEER Air Conditioning unit.
Don’t rush out and purchase those replacement appliances just yet though because there are specific rules you have to follow in order to qualify for the rebate. You have to purchase the appliance between April 16 – April 25, 2010 and you will want to make sure the appliance is one of the qualifying models.
Since there is a limit on the amount of rebate funds available, you will want to consider reserving your rebate in advance. Beginning April 5th, 2010, you can reserve a rebate by registering online or calling a toll-free number. The toll-free number has not been published yet so you will want to check the State Energy Conservation Office’s website for the number to call.
Our federal government has just given you a good excuse to trade in those junky appliances. Now it’s up to you to take advantage of it.
